The wait is finally over. During this morning's Pokémon Presents, The Pokémon Company officially unveiled the next generation of the franchise: Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves.

Developed exclusively for the Nintendo Switch 2, these titles represent the most significant graphical leap in the series' history.

The New Region: The Zephyr Archipelago

Set in a sprawling open world of windswept islands and glittering oceans, the Zephyr Archipelago utilizes the Switch 2's hardware to provide a seamless experience with zero loading screens between towns and the wilderness.

Meet the New Starters

While we only saw silhouettes in the teaser, internal leaks have confirmed the types and themes for the new trio:

  • Leafawn (Grass): A moss-covered fawn that eventually becomes a Grass/Rock type.

  • Pyropup (Fire): A fire-breathing husky that evolves into a sleek Fire/Dark guardian.

  • Bubblin (Water): A playful sea otter that gains the Water/Fairy typing.

Switch 2 Exclusive Features

Thanks to the new hardware, Winds and Waves will feature a "Dynamic Weather Engine" that affects Pokémon spawns in real-time. Expect to see rare Flying-types only during high-wind alerts and deep-sea predators appearing when the tide rises in Pokémon Waves.
