PC gamers hoping for an "RTX 50-Super" refresh or the next-gen RTX 60-series this year have just received some tough news. In a statement released this week, NVIDIA confirmed that they will not be launching any new consumer gaming GPUs in 2026.
The Reason: The Global Memory Crisis The delay isn't due to a lack of technology, but a massive shortage of GDDR7 memory chips. With the AI boom consuming most of the world's high-speed memory supply, NVIDIA is prioritizing data-center chips over gaming hardware.
When is the RTX 60-Series coming? Current leaks from reliable insiders suggest that the Rubin-architecture (RTX 6090) has been pushed back to the second half of 2027. This means the current RTX 50-series will remain the flagship hardware for the next 18 months.
What should gamers do? If you are still rocking an older RTX 30-series card, now might actually be the time to grab an RTX 5070 Ti or 5080 while stock is still available. Experts predict that as the year progresses, even the current inventory may become hard to find.
