The king of deckbuilders is reclaiming its throne. Today, March 2, 2026, Mega Crit released the final "Pre-Ascension" trailer for Slay the Spire 2, confirming that the game will officially enter Steam Early Access this Thursday, March 5. It has been 1,000 years since the Spire lay dormant, and the new climb looks deadlier than ever.
The Game Changer: 4-Player Co-op The most shocking reveal for the sequel is the addition of native multiplayer. You no longer have to face the Corrupt Heart alone.
Team Synergies: Up to four players can climb together, sharing certain "World Relics" and using multiplayer-specific cards to buff teammates or block incoming massive hits for a friend.
Shared Map: The team votes on which path to take, leading to intense debates over whether to hit that "Elite" burning room or rest at a campfire.
New and Returning Faces While the Ironclad and Silent are back with overhauled starting decks, the sequel introduces The Necrobinder.
This new class focuses on "Binding" defeated enemies to your deck as temporary summons.
It introduces a new resource called Essence, which acts as a secondary energy bar for powerful underworld spells.
Early Access Roadmap Mega Crit has stated that the game will stay in Early Access for roughly one year. At launch on March 5, players will have access to:
3 fully playable Acts.
3 starting characters.
Over 200 new cards and 50 new relics.
Are you planning to brave the Spire solo to prove your skill, or are you already assembling a 4-player squad to break the game with co-op synergies? Let us know your strategy in the comments!
