Monarch: Legacy of the Titans Review – The Open-World Kaiju Game We’ve Been Waiting For

Monarch Legacy of the Titans game review PS5 gameplay graphics ShoortMedia

After three years of development, Monarch: Legacy of the Titans has finally stomped onto PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC. Is it a true evolution of the monster genre, or just another "Titan-sized" disappointment?

The World: Leonida and Beyond

Unlike previous Godzilla titles that felt like simple brawlers, Legacy of the Titans is a sprawling open-world RPG. You play as a Monarch operative caught in the crossfire of a global ecosystem shift. The sense of scale is unparalleled—standing at the foot of a sleeping Behemoth actually feels terrifying.

Gameplay: Survival and Discovery

The gameplay loop is divided into two distinct halves:

  1. On-Foot Exploration: Stealth-based missions where you gather DNA samples and track Titan movements.

  2. Titan Command: Late-game mechanics allow you to "influence" the behavior of smaller Titans to protect human outposts.

Graphics and Performance

Running on Unreal Engine 5.5, the environmental destruction is persistent. If Godzilla levels a skyscraper in Mission 3, that skyscraper remains a pile of rubble for the rest of your playthrough.

The Verdict

While the human combat can feel a bit clunky compared to the Titan segments, the sheer spectacle of the "Hollow Earth" biomes makes this a must-play for 2026.

Final Score: 8.5/10
