The "Handheld Wars" of 2026 just took a wild, flexible turn. Today at Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, Lenovo officially debuted the Legion Go Fold Concept. While rumors have been swirling for weeks, seeing the device in action confirms that Lenovo is trying to bridge the gap between a portable console, a tablet, and a productivity laptop.
The Magic of the Folding Screen The centerpiece is a stunning POLED (Plastic OLED) display.
Handheld Mode: The screen folds into a compact 7.7-inch display, making it similar in size to a standard Steam Deck or Legion Go 2.
Unfolded Mode: Open it up, and you have a massive 11.6-inch canvas.
Because it folds outwards, the screen stays vibrant and seamless. Lenovo even showed off a Vertical Split-Screen mode, where you can play a game on the top half while having a Discord chat or a YouTube walkthrough open on the bottom half.
Under the Hood: Lunar Lake Power Lenovo confirmed the internal specs for this prototype, and they are impressive for a device this thin:
Processor: Intel Core Ultra 7 258V (Lunar Lake)
RAM: 32GB LPDDR5x
Storage: 1TB PCIe 4.0 SSD
Battery: 48Wh (A bit small, but optimized for the efficient Intel chip)
The "Vertical Mouse" Controller Returns Like the original Legion Go, the right controller can be detached and used as a vertical mouse for FPS games. However, the Fold version adds a mini touchscreen on the base of the controller that displays real-time CPU usage, battery life, or custom macros.
Is it coming to stores? Currently, Lenovo is calling this a "Proof of Concept." However, given that the specs are fully finalized and the build quality seen at MWC is near-retail, industry insiders expect a limited commercial launch by Late 2026.
Would you trade your Steam Deck for a foldable 11-inch screen, or is a folding hinge just one more thing that could break? Let’s hear your take in the comments!
