God of War 20th Anniversary Kratos original trilogy remastered PS5 ShoortMedia

Twenty years ago today, on March 2, 2005, a Spartan named Kratos first climbed the cliffs of suicide and changed action gaming forever. To celebrate the 20th Anniversary, Santa Monica Studio has officially announced the God of War: Origins Collection for PS5.

The Original Trilogy, Reborn The Origins Collection isn't just a port; it’s a full native PS5 restoration of God of War (2005), God of War II, and God of War III.

  • 60 FPS / 4K Native: Experience the scale of Chronos and the Hydra in crystal clarity.

  • DualSense Integration: Feel the resistance of the Blades of Chaos through the adaptive triggers.

  • Haptic Gore: A new "Vibration Profile" that lets you feel every impact of the Blade of Olympus.

Surprise "Valhalla" Update Starting today, all owners of God of War Ragnarok can download the "Ghost of Sparta" Legacy Pack for free.

  • This adds a high-fidelity "Young Kratos" skin (complete with the classic goatee and red tattoos) to the base game and the Valhalla DLC.

  • It also includes the "Original OST" toggle, allowing you to play through the Norse realms with the bombastic choir of the PS2 era.

A Look Back From the PlayStation 2 to the heights of the Switch 2 era, Kratos remains gaming’s most iconic anti-hero. Santa Monica Studio ended their stream with a cryptic teaser: a single image of an Egyptian desert with the caption "The cycle never truly ends."

Which boss fight from the original trilogy are you most excited to relive in 4K? The Hydra, Ares, or the climb up Mount Olympus? Let us know in the comments!
